Venezuelan opposition leader dedicates Nobel Peace Prize to Trump
Trump recently confirmed that a US military operation on Saturday led to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, also asserting that American forces would oversee the country temporarily if necessary.
Regarding her Nobel Prize, Machado said she dedicated the honor to Trump immediately upon receiving it. The Nobel Committee recognized her in 2025 for efforts to protect democratic rights and promote a peaceful transition from authoritarianism to democracy in Venezuela.
“I believe he (Trump) deserved it in October. Imagine now! I think he has proven to the world what he means. I mean, January 3 will go down in history as the day justice defeated a tyranny. It's a milestone,” she stated.
When asked whether she had formally offered Trump the prize, Machado said this has not occurred yet, adding, “I certainly want to give it to him and share it with him.”
